Piksel, a yearly event for artists and coders working with open source / copyleft approaches will take place at BEK - the Bergen Centre for Electronic Art, in Bergen, Norway from october 29. to november 7 this year.

They are currently making a call for works (deadline 15. september) for "performing artists using open source software in the creation and presentation of their work", this includes VJ-crews, live coders, typing divas, virtual actors, noise combos and FLOSS (Open Source Software for realtime processing of video and sound) performers.

The Third Place Gallery, an initiative by Sony PlayStation, has had a makeover and is making a call for works under the theme of Game Art.

"August 2nd the new version of The Third Place Gallery was launched to the public. The new theme is Game Art. From August 2nd to September 30th the gallery is open to submission of any piece of art which is inspired by the world of electronic games

Our judges will pick out art pieces for exhibitions in their personal galleries and one work in each category will receive a grand prize of a 2000.

The following media formats can be uploaded to the site: JPEG, GIF, MPEG, QuickTime, Windows Media, MP3 and links to a website of your own. You can also mail works directly to us at works@thirdplacegallery.org."

Creative Process and Artefact Creation: Practice, Digital Media and Support Tools-- "Creativity and Cognition has evolved into an ever increasingly mature field of research and practice since its starting points in the early 1990s. Creativity and Cognition 2002 revealed a growing strength that can now be demonstrated in the 2005 conference. The main theme of the 2005 conference is the creative process and the creation of artefacts: understanding creative practice, art works employing digital media and creativity support tools."
